This Indonesian petrified slab, approximately 4.5 inches thick preserves the organic form and mineral grain of the original tree, transformed over millennia into stone with rich tonal variation. The slab rests on two 19th century Guatemalan carved stone bases. Their weathered surfaces provide deep  grounded contrast to the refined plane above.
